Farmers invite consumers to celebrate National Ag Day

WACO, Texas—Farmers and ranchers invite consumers to join them in celebrating America’s diverse, healthy and affordable domestic food supply during National Agriculture Week, March 4-10. National Agriculture Week will culminate with National Ag Day on Thursday, March 8.

“Agriculture plays an important role in all of our lives—whether you live on a farm or buy your food at the grocery store. This week, we want to connect with consumers and engage in conversations about the food, fiber and fuel that we all depend on,” said Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) President Kenneth Dierschke.

During National Agriculture Week, farmers and ranchers will focus on talking about how they grow the food and fiber that Americans consume every day. They’ll also highlight the role agriculture plays in the health of the American economy. Both National Agriculture Week and National Ag Day are sponsored by the Agriculture Council of America.

“America’s farmers and ranchers have made it their lives’ work to cultivate the land and improve what’s not only their business, but also their family legacy,” Dierschke said. “We are proud to continue the tradition of American farming and want to celebrate our accomplishments with our customers, our neighbors who purchase the products we raise.”

There are many ways consumers can connect with farmers and ranchers during National Agriculture Week. The Agriculture Council of America has set up a website, www.agday.org; a Twitter account, @AgDay; and an Ag Day blog, http://agdayblog.blogspot.com.
