(SAN ANTONIO, Texas)—Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) honored Art Mann, former journalist for The Hillsboro Reporter, with its 2016 Excellence in Journalism award for outstanding coverage of Texas agricultural issues. Mann received the award during TFB’s 83rd Annual Meeting Dec. 4 in San Antonio.

The Hillsboro Reporter is a bi-weekly publication with print and online subscriptions covering news in the Hill County, West, Milford and Lake Whitney areas. The Hill County Farm Bureau (CFB) board of directors nominated Mann for the award in the category market of under 50,000 in population.

“Mr. Mann has reported on ag related issues throughout his career,” the nomination stated. “He always covers our crop tours, reports on the start of harvest, planting time, drought and effects and rains in our local area.”

Mann’s journalism career spanned more than 30 years.

The nominating county also noted Mann’s commitment to covering county fairs, meeting with elected officials and working with the local Extension office and 4-H in reporting their activities.

“Mr. Mann is fair and honest with his reporting, and our community is very fortunate to have him as a reporter,” the nomination added.
