Texas Farm Bureau encouraged by steps to reopen federal government

The following statement may be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening regarding positive steps in Washington, D.C., to reopen the federal government.

“Texas farmers and ranchers are still feeling the strain of the ongoing government shutdown, but we’re encouraged to see a path forward.

“The U.S. Senate took a critical step by passing a funding bill that delivers much needed support for agriculture, including a farm bill extension and funding for essential USDA programs.

“These aren’t just policy wins. They are lifelines for producers facing a steep downturn in the farm economy. And when paired with the farm safety net provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, this package represents a powerful commitment to rural America that must not be delayed.

“We urge the U.S. House of Representatives to act immediately to pass this legislation and send it to the president’s desk for enactment. Texas farm and ranch families deserve certainty and support, not more waiting. Let’s get this done for agriculture and for the country.”
