Texas Farm Bureau statement on U.S. House action to reopen the government

The following statement may be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening regarding tonight’s vote by the U.S. House of Representatives to reopen the federal government.

"Texas Farm Bureau welcomes the U.S. House of Representatives’ action to fund the government. With the legislation now headed to the president’s desk, it’s time for the federal government to get back to work. Texas farmers and ranchers never have the luxury of shutting down, and neither should the federal government.

“Congress must act now to deliver short-term relief and also commit to long-term solutions for a struggling farm economy. This means delivering immediate bridge assistance to struggling producers to make it into 2026, completing the farm bill without delay, and advancing pro-agricultural trade policies. These actions are critical to stabilize operations today and strengthen commodity markets for the future.

“Texas Farm Bureau stands ready to work with Congress to make these priorities a reality.”
