County Farm Bureaus show membership growth in 2023

(FRISCO, Texas)—County Farm Bureaus across Texas were recognized for membership achievements during Texas Farm Bureau’s (TFB) 90th Annual Meeting.

“Texas Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization, and we continuously work together to represent agriculture throughout the Lone Star State,” TFB President Russell Boening said. “Without our members, we wouldn’t—and couldn’t—be the Voice of Texas Agriculture.”

TFB gained 15,984 members for a total of 554,048 member-families. Out of 205 organized county Farm Bureaus across Texas, 156 counties gained members during the year, and a statewide retention rate of 87.28% was achieved.

The top 10 county Farm Bureaus with the most new members are:

  • Collin County, with a gain of 2,578 members
  • Harris County, 2,511 members
  • McLennan County, 2,087 members
  • Brazoria-Galveston County, 1,900 members
  • Fort Bend County, 1,870 members
  • Bexar County, 1,613 members
  • Ellis County, 1,540 members
  • Tarrant County, 1,493 members
  • Kaufman County, 1,456 members
  • Dallas County, 1,391 members

County Farm Bureaus reporting the largest total membership growth include:

  • McLennan County, 1,108 members
  • Harris County, 1,072 members
  • Tarrant County, 602 members
  • Montgomery County, 594 members
  • Bexar County, 546 members
  • Gregg County, 543 members
  • Dallas County, 528 members
  • Denton County, 448 members
  • Ellis County, 444 members
  • Hunt County, 439 members

The highest membership renewal percentages were achieved by the following:

  • Dickens County, 95.60%
  • Jack County, 95.37%
  • Mason County, 94.04%
  • Kendall County, 93.12%
  • Fayette County, 92.67%
  • Colorado County, 92.55%
  • Bandera County, 92.53%
  • Marion County, 92.29%
  • Gillespie County, 92.22%
  • Kimble County, 92.10%

County Farm Bureaus with the largest membership include the following:

  • Collin County, 13,477
  • Brazoria-Galveston County, 12,543
  • McLennan County, 12,155
  • Fort Bend County, 10,230
  • Ellis County, 10,020
  • Jefferson County, 8,635
  • Bell County, 8,634
  • Harris County, 8,262
  • Bexar County, 7,814
  • Kaufman County, 7,583

County Farm Bureaus with the longest continuous growth in membership include:

  • DeWitt County, 74 years
  • Franklin County, 43 years
  • Henderson County, 34 years
  • Atascosa County, 32 years
  • Bell County, 32 years
  • Comal County, 32 years
  • Gillespie County, 32 years
  • Hill County, 32 years
  • Medina County, 32 years
  • Navarro County, 32 years
  • Tyler County, 32 years

“This achievement marks 23 consecutive years of membership growth, and we’re very proud of that accomplishment,” Boening said. “We are the Voice of Texas Agriculture, and our continued membership growth shows the value of Farm Bureau to agriculture, rural communities and everyone connected to the production of our food, fiber and fuel.”
