Farm bill moving swiftly through approval process
(WACO, Texas)—The state’s largest farm and ranch organization is applauding the Senate’s passage of a full, five-year farm bill Tuesday afternoon.
“With annual farm income projected to be at the third-lowest level in more than two decades, American farmers and ranchers need the stability provided by the farm bill,” Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) President Russell Boening said. “This bill does more than provide a safety net for agriculture. It also funds nutrition, conservation, food security and research programs that benefit the entire nation.”
The Farm Bill Conference Committee released its conference report on the bill Monday evening after weeks of negotiations.
“We greatly appreciate all the long hours and hard work the Senate and House Agriculture Committees and their staff put in while crafting this bill for American families,” Boening said. “We strongly support its passage.”
The U.S. House of Representatives will take up the farm legislation next before sending it to the president for his consideration.
