Heritage Land Bank kicks off Heritage Harvey Challenge

Special matching campaign to raise $100,000 in assistance for ranchers and farmers impacted by Hurricane Harvey

(TYLER, Texas)—Heritage Land Bank today announced the start of its Heritage Harvey Challenge, a special matching campaign in partnership with Texas Farm Bureau to raise $100,000 or more to aid Texas farmers and ranchers hit hardest by Hurricane Harvey.

Now through Dec. 31, 2017, Heritage Land Bank will match donations to the Heritage Harvey Challenge, up to a total of $50,000. All monies donated will go to Texas Farm Bureau’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund for distribution to qualified applicants from counties in the designated disaster areas.

“Now that the flood waters have receded, we’re just beginning to understand the extent of the catastrophic damage that Hurricane Harvey inflicted on the agricultural community,” Bill Tandy, CEO of Heritage Land Bank, said. “Those farmers and ranchers need funds to start rebuilding and getting themselves back up on their feet.”

“We are proud to be associated with this fundraising challenge. The generosity of Heritage Land Bank, its board of directors and everyone who donates will make a real difference in the lives of many of the rural families devastated by the hurricane,” Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening said.

Jay Novacek, spokesman for Heritage Land Bank and former Dallas Cowboys all-star, added, “The Heritage Harvey Challenge is a great way to double the impact of your donation and assist our friends, neighbors and fellow Texans. It’s what we do. We come together to help those in need.”

For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation online, visit HeritageLandBank.com/Harvey. Monetary donations may also be made at any Heritage Land Bank Branch located in Athens, Fort Worth, Greenville, Jacksonville, Lindale, Lufkin, McKinney, Nacogdoches, Palestine and Tyler, TX. Checks should be made payable to TFB Ag Research and Edu Foundation with “Heritage Harvey Challenge” noted on the memo line.
