Texas Farm Bureau applauds second round of CFAP relief

Texas Farm Bureau applauds second round of CFAP relief

The following statement can be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening regarding the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s announcement of a second round of Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) relief payments to farmers and ranchers.

“Texas Farm Bureau applauds today’s announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A second round of coronavirus relief payments worth up to $14 billion will be of great help to Texas farmers and ranchers. Some had not previously been eligible for relief from losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Some of the commodities qualifying for the first time under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) include poultry, mohair, goats, hemp and all classes of wheat.

“Texas agriculture continues to struggle with the financial impact of market disruptions and associated costs from COVID-19. Assistance from CFAP is helping farm and ranch families stay in business as they face these challenges. This second round of relief is welcome news.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Trump administration in making this assistance available to Texas farmers and ranchers.”

The second round of CFAP assistance can help Texas farmers and ranchers who continue to face market disruptions and associated costs because of COVID-19.
