Texas Farm Bureau applauds the return of whole milk in schools
The following statement may be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening regarding President Trump signing the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act of 2025 into law on Jan. 14.
“The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act of 2025 paves the way for whole and 2% milk to return to Texas and U.S. school cafeterias for the first time in more than a decade.
“Texas Farm Bureau appreciates the leadership of U.S. House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson in advancing this important legislation. We are also grateful to the administration for prioritizing this issue and recognizing its importance to farmers and ranchers. The continued engagement from President Donald J. Trump, Secretary Brooke Rollins and Secretary Robert F. Kennedy underscores the significance of this effort, and we value their attention to the nutritional benefits provided by a full range of dairy products.
“The new law allows schools participating in the National School Lunch Program to provide students with a variety of fluid milk options, a position that Texas Farm Bureau has long supported.
“This ensures children will have access to important vitamins, protein and other essential nutrients, while supporting Texas dairy farmers who need access to expanded markets for their product. My family and I have been dairy producers for more than 70 years.
“This is a good day for Texas agriculture and for Texas schoolchildren.”
