Texas Farm Bureau honors Griffis for excellence in journalism

(SAN ANTONIO, Texas)—Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) honored Eddie Griffis, host of West Texas Ag Life on AM 950 and 100.7 FM, with its 2016 Excellence in Agricultural Journalism award for outstanding coverage of Texas agricultural issues. Griffis received the award during TFB’s 83rd Annual Meeting Dec. 4 in San Antonio.

West Texas Ag Life features important issues facing the West Texas farm community. The Lubbock County Farm Bureau board of directors nominated Griffis for the award in the agricultural journalism category.

“Farmers and ranchers can tune in to his radio show to be informed on daily markets and to hear interviews with experts in the field,” the nomination stated. “Eddie visits with legislators, researchers, producers and anyone involved with agriculture.”

Griffis also has segments on Lubbock’s Fox 34 Ag Day and Fox 34 News.

The nominating county noted Griffis’ involvement in agriculture. He is a West Texas farmer who has participated in TFB’s AgLead program, served as the Lubbock County Farm Bureau president, served on the Plains Cotton Growers board of directors and is a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters.

“Eddie reaches over 450,000 residents of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico—many of them involved in agriculture and many of them related to agribusiness,” the nomination stated.
