Texas Farm Bureau statement on lifting agricultural tariffs
The following may be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening.
“Texas Farm Bureau is encouraged by the news that the Trump administration has reached an agreement to lift steel and aluminum tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports.
“Canada and Mexico are strong allies for U.S. and Texas agriculture. For decades, farmers and ranchers have seen many positive benefits of trading with these two countries.
“Resolving this crucial issue paves the way for Congress to advance the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which Texas farmers and ranchers need desperately during this time of economic uncertainty.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the administration and Congressional leaders to secure passage of this critical agreement. Hardworking farm and ranch families are counting on USMCA to provide certainty as they grow and harvest their crops.”
