Texas Farm Bureau urges Senate support and swift passage of farm bill

The following statement may be attributed to Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening regarding consideration of the “Agricultural Act of 2026’ by the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry on Aug. 6. 

“Farmers and ranchers have waited far too long for Congress to do its job and deliver a new farm bill.

“We appreciate Chairman John Boozman and his team for the hard work they have put into advancing the ‘Agricultural Act of 2026’ and providing a path forward for rural America. 

“Texas Farm Bureau strongly supports this legislation and has spent years working alongside our grassroots members in Texas and in Washington, D.C., advocating for a modernized farm bill that reflects today's agricultural economy. 

“Producers have spoken clearly. They need certainty, stronger risk management tools and policies that support the continued production of America's food, fiber and fuel.

“The Senate Agriculture Committee should approve this bill without delay so it can advance to the Senate floor, earn swift passage, and move to conference with the House. Quite simply, there is no excuse to not support this legislation that strengthens America's national food security. Farmers and ranchers are facing serious economic challenges, and they cannot afford more delays from Congress.

“This bill represents a significant step forward, but the job is not finished until a final farm bill reaches the president's desk. It's time for Congress to finish the work and deliver the certainty and support America's farmers and ranchers have earned.”
