YOUR TEXAS AGRICULTURE MINUTE

YOUR TEXAS AGRICULTURE MINUTE

Let freedom ring

By Gene Hall

Freedom is the founding idea of America. You might call it liberty. Many brave men and women have fought to keep us safe and for that freedom we hold so dear.

Freedom is our choices and our actions. It’s our entrepreneurial spirit driving innovation. Freedom is passion and responsibility. Freedom is America.

And in America, we have many choices. When it comes to our food, there’s organic, local, conventionally-grown and more. And it’s affordable and safe. Behind each of those choices is a farm family working hard to grow your food choice.

All of that is born of diversity and that makes us strong. It makes us independent. We are a resilient nation, with a can-do attitude that’s especially true on our farms and ranches.

Agriculture remains our foundation. A food secure nation has many choices.

This week, we celebrate America’s birthday, our freedoms and all those who make it possible.

The preceding commentary is brought to you by Texas Farm Bureau, the “Voice of Texas Agriculture.” Called “Your Texas Agriculture Minute,” TFB will issue thought-provoking editorials each week—via print and audio—to spark understanding of agriculture in the Lone Star State and its impact on each and every Texan.

You may read this week’s editorial above or listen to the audio version.
