YOUR TEXAS AGRICULTURE MINUTE

YOUR TEXAS AGRICULTURE MINUTE

Celebrating National Ag Day

By Gene Hall

The dawn of new tools and technologies makes each new day in agriculture more productive than the past.

Tomorrow is National Ag Day. This year’s theme is “365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed.”

American agriculture is up to the task. A hungry world is counting on it.

Farmers and ranchers provide almost everything we eat, use and wear on a daily basis. They are the envy of the modern world.

The contributions of U.S. farmers and ranchers are year-round. They are ready to do their part to meet the challenge of feeding a growing population. It’s nice to pause for one day and salute the blessing that is American agriculture.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of National Ag Day. It’s true–American agriculture is a part of all of us. Its products allow each of us to survive. Its products allow us, as a society, to flourish.

The theme of this year’s celebration is fitting. A reality of seven billion mouths to feed is inspiring. Each sunrise for agriculture is bright, indeed.

The preceding commentary is brought to you by Texas Farm Bureau, the “Voice of Texas Agriculture.” Called “Your Texas Agriculture Minute,” TFB will issue thought-provoking editorials each week—via print and audio—to spark understanding of agriculture in the Lone Star State and its impact on each and every Texan.
